battling cancer

Today cancer is no longer a rare disease. For the many years that I have worked in a hospital I have seen patients come in and out. Many of them become familiar faces since most those patients have recurring illnesses. But what I pity the most are the cancer patients. They usually have their treatments every month or less. Three of my co workers have their mom or their dad have this disease. Oftentimes they verbalize the hardships that they are going thru while battling this illness. They normally take strong analgesics and even narcotics and antiemetic drugs just to alleviate the pain. I have seen not only the patients but also their family and love ones suffer whenever they are confined. Well we or even the doctors do not exactly know what the future may hold for them, so they live from day to day, having hope that their chemotherapy sessions and their faith could get them well.
